9:15 - 10:15 AM    Panel:  Screening & Proxy Voting

Once you decide you don’t want to invest in pornography, what are the mechanics of doing that?  Screening is defined as looking at company business practices, products, services, and charitable giving.  You can screen for both positive and negative data points.  Let’s say your investment committee wants to get started...  What is the first step?  You decide to invest in a company...  Now it is time to make a real difference.  Proxy voting is defined as casting votes as an equity owner for different company resolutions.  Most investors throw these in the trash and most mutual fund managers vote in line with company management.  We will talk about getting a few ballots in the mail or providing services to vote thousands--as well as answering the question:  why is proxy voting important?
